Attempt First

February 11, 2015

So here’s the thing. I am starting a blog. And what will this blog be about, you ask? Well, largely, photography. Occasionally the books I’m reading. The odd reference here and there to other blogs I like to read, and possibly other things as well. The point is, I don’t have a specific purpose to this blog yet, and I’m sure these first few (and then a few more?) entries will be more about simply getting started than about providing what all of the commentators would call “valuable and informative content.” I think it was Samuel Johnson who said, “Nothing will ever be attempted if all possible objections must first be overcome.” Which I take to mean attempt, and then work on the obstacles as you go. So get started now...valuable and informative content to come later...hopefully.

So here’s the next thing. If you are reading this blog for answers, you may…possibly…be disappointed. I have discovered that I don’t have many. And the older I get the fewer I have. So when I say I read something a certain way, such as “which I take to mean attempt, and then work on the obstacles as you go,” please use your own good judgment. “Jump first” may be appropriate for some situations (blogging, say) and not at all for others (cliffs, for example). But what I do have are questions. And I do so love to ask questions. So that will factor heavily into each blog entry, I’m sure. Just a little head’s up to you, friend.

So here’s the last thing. Thanks for joining me on my explorations of things mostly photographic. And I promise to work my way toward valuable and informative content at every conceivable opportunity. Attempt, then work on the obstacles as you go.

Cheers.
